Iratic idle NEED Help..getting NO help from ford or the dealer

I would greatly appreiciate any help or advice...I have a 2004 F350 that has had an iratic idle since Sept 08. The truck is bone stock and now has 82000 miles on it...I bought it a year ago with 69000miles thinking it had low miles and I would not have any problems with it... NOT...I brought the truck in 3 times from Sept 08 to Oct 08 when the 5yr wty ran out. Now the dealer is not real anxious to help or work on it because its out of wty (and they wont get paid). I came back to them and said it was under wty when I brought it in and you NEVER have fixed it.. The dealer has tried everything and a Ford Field Service Rep has been out 3 times. They have replaced and checked everything that I have seen listed on this wonderful site concerning this topic. I have been on this site daily looking for idea's of what it might be..and have made copy's of threads and brought them to the Ford Dealer to show them I am not the only one, and try this, or try that...They just recently changed the 2 check valves on the oil rails. It ran good for a day then the iratic idle started again. They have pulled the motor twice to fix a bed plate leak, yah, you would think they should have got it right the first time. I have asked them to replace wiring harness but they say who is going to pay for it, and they checked them out and are fine... I am being told I cant take it to another dealer unless I want to pay for it... I have called Ford at their customer care (yah, thats a good one) phone# and they say to talk with the Service mgr...and the Service mgr says talk to Ford.....When this first started 8 months after I bought the truck I talked with the Sales mgr and said I want my money back and he said , that isnt going to happen...

So now that I am done venting , I am asking you folks if you know of any Ford 800 # I can call or what my options are?

Do you think it could possibly be the fuel filters, have they ever been replaced? Is it only on Idle?

Yes Duncan its only at idle....and you would think that the 3 Diesel tech's and 3 Ford Field service techs that have come out and worked on this might have tried or thought of it....but I will bring it up to them as its going back in to the shop monday AM.....

it pulls fine has pleanty of power , and gets good gas mpg....when you come to a stop at a Stoplight or park the truck ...in a aprox 1-2 min it will start...the idle goes from 750 down to 500 then up to 1000 then back down to 750....and it will keep doing that for approx 5-8 min..then it will go away...

I was told it was the Ipr valve and to also delete the egr, and that would fix the problem. Mine does the same thing and it also feels like someone just rearended me or i will jerk forward which if your not ready could be ugly...

What oil are you using, and how much is in it? The 6.0 seems to be a bit sensitive to oil. If its overfull, this can froth the oil and cause surging when the froth hits the HPOP. I have heard that some guys have had problems switching between oils and the truck not appreciating it. Have you (or the dealer) pullled an OA to see what fuel dilution looks like? There was a time when the 6.0 was known for "making oil" with leaking injectors. If you're up over 3% fuel dilution this may be causing you to surge.

I used to have a rough idle especially after a hard pull and now it's gone. When my truck was in for headgaskets and studs the dealer replaced the IPR (screen was sucked in he said) and I believe this was the cure for my truck but not sure. Like has been said before do not overfill the oil (1/2 way between hash marks seems best and thats where my oil level was at when I got it back from the dealer). If it was my truck and oil level was at or over full I would change that first and add only 13-13 1/2 quarts and run it. Just over the add mark is fine in these trucks. Hope this helps. My truck just ran out of warantee as well.

Is this an 03 or 04 engine? I suspect its an 03 and your ICP (behind and below the Turbo) is leaking oil.

its a 03 engine, and they have replaced the ICP twice.... I just talked with the dealer yesterday and not only is a Ford Field service rep. there, but someone from Navistar flew in yesterday....SOOOOOOOOO I guess they are really trying to help me... I was told the put in a new wiring harness and they "think" that has cured the problem...I asked them to try that fix , 2 months ago after reading it on this board... I will check the oil level, but again these Ford tech's get paid to know this stuff...but then again they have fixed a bed plate leak twice in a month, and an ICP leak twice ....

thanks for your guys inputs

Here is an update....Well after another Ford Field service tech, and someone from Navistar looked at the truck after they replaced the 2 check valves on the oil rails...they finally decided to give me a complete wiring harness....And Cross my fingers I have had it 3 days now and it SEEMS fixed..... I asked them to replace the harness 2 months ago.... oh well...

If it's any consolation, replacing the harness and the EGR is what finally fixed my idle issues.
