Just did the BCP Mod!!!

Just finished this one last night. Took me about 20 minutes start to finish. I'm slower than most. My wife says I can take a 2 hour project and turn it into a 2 day one.

I would suggest anyone doing this to use an additional piece of wire about 4-6 inches long. There is just not much room in there as someone else said. I found the BCP wire first and it is the most difficult to get to, and put a butt splice on it. Then I crimped my additional piece of wire to the other end of that splice and routed the wire out the front towards the fuse panel where the Aux orange wires were bundled. This made it a cinch to crimp another splice onto the other end and crimp it to the Aux orange wire.

Many many thanks to those on this web site who are much smarter and more knowledgeable than I am for knowing how to perform this mod and putting instructions down for us to use.

Re: Just did the BCP Mod!!!

I did it last night also! Easy enough. Like you, I added a short piece of wire so I can pull the fuse panel back out again and not worry about pulling the wire loose. Two more of those upfitter switches left, not sure what I am going to do with them.

Re: Just did the BCP Mod!!!

Look at the second topic in this folder about high idle, that will explain the BCP Mod. The upfitter switches are 4 switches built into the dash for accessories or whatever you need to power with 12V. Mine are part of the Tow Command console.

Re: Just did the BCP Mod!!!

Thanks!! Now I understand. I guess I didn't know about upfitter switches as my truck is a 2004, without TowCommand.
