You Guys will find that the install on this is quite simple. One thing I would have done different from the instructions was to have the filter screwed onto the housing and the 3/8 line connected to the front of the housing and to the tee so that when you splice in the tee it is a "quick" interruption and only a minor loss of coolant. Don't forget to have the clamps in place and ready prior to the tee splice. Nice setup that I am certain will make a difference.

I would like to also give Bob at Dieselsite 2 thumbs up! I bought the filter kit and installed one of my filters [I bought 3] and it would not stop leaking. I called Bob and not only did he replace the one filter he gave me a total of 4 new filters! Wow thats customer service! Thanks Bob!
I have had mine sitting in the cellar for about a month now uninstalled...
My questions:
How far off the engine connection do you cut the larger hose?
I am pretty confident about the cut on the return from the top of the radiator. But the larger hose on the engine looks tight? The directions are a little foggy I think a measurement would help. Any input?
What do you cut the hose with to ensure a clean cut?

Munfrobie I cut my hose around the area of the oil fill cap just behind it a little ways up the hose. I used hose cutters I have but a razor blade will do. I pinched off two sides of the hose with some needle nose vise grips and only lost the amount of coolant in the section I wanted to cut. I just cut the hose about the size of the the tee in length. You can always cut on the longer so you will have enough. It was very simple. Install was about 1 hour. It really should have been less but I was making sure all was good along the way. I can email you some pix of mine installed if you like. Pm me your email and I will get it out to you.
When I installed mine, the engine was dead cold (3 days) and the coolant loss was about a teaspoon. I had drip pans under the van, prepared for the worst, but really to leaks. When the engine is cold, there is no pressure to force out the coolant.
And the P/U heater hose is easy access compared to the van. I couldn't even see the heater hose to start with. And no room for big hands.

I ordered mine about a week ago... I dont' have it yet as I got mine shipped to my house and it just hasn't arrived..
Is there a specific filter to these kits that I can buy here or do I have to buy the Diesel site filter? If I have to replace the first filter that soon I am just trying to be prepared with some extra filters..

Thank you for the link. I ordered mine, and the ball valves, and 3 extra filters, last night. I hope to install it as soon as possible.
I just placed the exact same order for my '03 Excursion. I really debated on buying this because I already have > 120K miles on the vehicle, but I guess it won't hurt. Plus I'll be all set to protect new EGR and oil coolers if I end up having to replace the originals sometime down the road. Since nobody makes a big people hauler that can also tow heavy trailers, I hope to keep the Ex for a long time.

The connection to the heater core discharge tube... I teed that line in back near the firewall. Much easier to keep an eye on there than down below the intercooler tube.
There's probably a reason I shouldn't have done it that way, but after 15k - 20k miles it still works fine.

I looked at putting mine there and ended up not doing so because folks said not to. If I recall correctly, the reason was because it will only allow for filtration when the heater is on....

Hmm... I thought I teed into the same hose that the kit recommended, just further back closer to the fire wall. And I thought it was the heater core discharge hose. I'll have to take a look again and see if I'm mistaken.

The directions read if you have the solenoid in the heater hose, connect forward of it. If not, you can connect anywhere in the hose's run.
I chose a section of hose in front of the solenoid, but in a straight section of 3 or so inches, so the t-fitting/hose wouldn't be bound up in a turn in the hose.

I put mine on today and I ended up grinding the U shape(that goes under the grommet) deeper, so the bracket goes up higher. My filter would have been sitting on top of the a/c line if I didn't grind it deeper.
Anybody know why the bracket that holds the filter & housing on is so big and extends the filter away from the radiator? I don't have very much room to get the filter on/off. I had to take the filter housing off to get the filter on, then bolted the housing back onto the bracket.
