Latest Blackstone report....

...Shows I have 2.5% Fuel was found on my oil. I have Amsoil %w/30 in the truck. The oil is about 11,000 miles old with fuel filter changes at 5000 mi intervals. Amsoil claims I can have it a bit longer and I know I'm open to a tongue lashing from some of the respected member of this board.

My question is: Other than the oil being possibly old, what could be causing this? ...In other words what is "fuel in oil" indicative of? If I take it to a dealer, will my blackstone report hold water?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Latest Blackstone report....

I believe having too much fuel in your oil is due to injectors.

Re: Latest Blackstone report....

Dealer won't do anything unless it's upwards of 6%.
I would change my oil at 5k intervals and not worry about it.

11,000 miles on 6.0L PSD oil...that's a long time.

Fresh oil = cheap insurance

Re: Latest Blackstone report....

I use recommended 7500 mile interval and Valvoline and have not had any issues.

you have to remeber that the oil in the crankcase is also the actuation oil for the injectors. If you use an oil not suited for both lubrication and hydraulic actuation you are asking for trouble.

Re: Latest Blackstone report....

You'll get a lot of advice on this I'm sure, but the fact is, the 6.0 engines are rough on oil and sem to run upwards of 2% fuel in the oil at 5000 miles. I run Amsoil 15-40 in my Dodge Cummins trucks for 25k, with periodic analysis and filters at 7.5k with no real oil dilution. My 6.0 trucks get their oil and filter changed at 5k, with delo 1300. I don't really think that 2 to 6% dilution with 15 quarts of oil is a problem, but I don't waste my money on Amsoil to change it every 5k. I have Fumoto valves on all the trucks to make oil changes easy.
