Unhappy Loss Of Power!!!

i have an 05 6.0 its only got around 65 thousand miles on it. when we first bought it with 56 thousand miles it had a lot of power and when you mashed the accelerator it would put you back in your seat and give a nice hard shift through all the gears. now it just kinda gets there when it wants to. i took it into the dealership for an oil change (it was free for buying the vehicle). would they have put a new computer "tune" on it if one came out from the factory? if not, what else can be wrong. the air filters fine. the turbo spools fine (hits around 20 like normal) i'm lost, and i'm new at this!

My suggestion would be to replace the fuel filters if you have no idea when they were last changed. I don,t know what dealer you purchased the truck from, but I have a pretty good idea. Theres no reason for them to recalibrate it at an oil change and even if they did it would not make that noticable of a difference. Have you checked the oil level or know what oil they put in it?

cal's

yup i bought the truck at cal's. they got me!!! i'm not sure what oil they put in i'll have to check and get back with you on that one. could it be my egr valve? it also surges when you first start to go down the road. my wife just told me today that at like thirty five to fourty it sounds like the engine is trying hard to get power. she didn't say what the tac is reading though. thanks for the ideas. anything helps!

Well my first thought is that your 2005 model should build more than 20 psi of boost, more like 25-26 is normal.Could be a fuel pressure concern, egr valve concern, turbo vanes/unison ring sticking issues.....need to get a diagnostic computer hooked up and see if it has any codes.I would also recommend gettin the pcm, tcm, ficm flashed to the latest calibration......

I would suggest calling the dealer service dept. and taking it it in. It should be under warranty and from my experiance with that dealer, they should be able to fix it in short order. It sounds like an EGR valve or Turbo causing a loss of boost pressure problem to me.

Warranty

so by under warranty you mean that they should fix it for free because of the 100,000 mile warranty on the motor? i don't think its a fuel issue because its not falling on its face, its just doesn't have the power it used to. they will test drive it for free right. are they the type of dealership to say "well i don't know what it is we're gonna have to do some looking, and oh by the way we charge 150 an hour"?

If you're over the 3/36 that the 05's came with, it'll be a $100 deductible IF you fall with the 5yr/100k engine warranty. Right now, I'd bet you're right on the cusp of timing out on your 5yrs. It sounds to me like the STC the 05's are notorious for, and that should be covered by the 5/100, but it will cost you $100 to find out.

OMC is talking about the (STC) Snap to Connect fitting on the High pressure oil pump. Its a well known issue on the 05 model. It really doesn,t sound like that to me though, as you should be having starting issues as well. As stated any engine repair should be covered by the 5YR/100K warranty with a $100 deductable. How down on power is it? If it has a noticable driveabilty issue they should be able to diagnose it quickly. FWIW, I have always got good results from Cals service department, but I haven,t been in there in a couple years. I would call there service dept and see what they say.
