Map sensor not hooked up, not showing any CEL?

Just finished doing studs and headgaskets on an 04 6.0L. Hooked everything back up, truck started without much of a fight. The plastic nipple on the MAP sensor got broken off while putting everything back together so it isnt currently hooked up.

Truck still seems to run fine, plenty of power, no excessive smoke, etc....

I ordered a new MAP sensor which will be here tomorrow, but I thought the MAP sensor was critical to correct operation of the motor? Any ideas why there are no CELs?

i beleive the map sensor was taken out of the equation a while back, so it's not used.

I see, everything else I read so far says it uses manifold pressure (boost) to adjust fueling and timing.
