I have mice apparently chewing on the battery cable cap. I park my truck out in the driveway. Any ideas on how to solve this before they start chewing through my hoses.

My cat makes short work of them. Before the cat I used the old-fashioned mouse trap baited with peanut butter. We had some build a nest in the blower housing of a vehicle. Stay on top of it, they can do a lot of damage. They leave a nasty smell also.
I have had good luck with putting mothballs in a few spots under the hood. Those little b*&tards will tear up your wiring not to mention they will start nesting in there.

And remember, Mice ain't OEM equipment therefore their damage is not covered under warranty.

But the repair can be covered by the 'comprehensive' portion of your auto insurance.

Sit outside with a pellet gun. When you see the litle bastages on the ground (before they get to your truck), pop 'em

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
i've recommended in the past to my customers to distribute decon pellets around the eng. area & the mice will go to it.had many gas eng. come in w/ inj. wires eat into. never seen a diesel come in that way yet. Solution: .22 pistol with shot loads. I have a buddy that's a dead-eye shot with his old revolver dispatching rats that hang around his hog feeders. It's a real hoot to watch.

The cat was torturing one behind my truck before I left for the grocery store. He doesn't just kill them, he plays with them first. A good cat is very effective at killing them before the population gets out of hand. If you don't like or want a cat, properly set (hair trigger action) mouse traps will clean them out also, but you have to stay on top of it, especially in the fall when they look for shelter (here in the NE anyways). I personnally don't like the poision because you can't predict where they will die and that can get very smelly.
I park in my shop but don't let the 4 cats in there. They make as much of a mess as the mice (well, almost). I've had some pretty bad luck with mice in the past, I use decon now, I just distribute it around the shop and my vehicles, seems to work. I've had to replace the ducting in 2 other vehicles due to the smell, once they nest up, there's not much you can do about it, nothing will eliminate the smell not to mention the affects on your health.
