Re: Milage!!!

I used to read posts on this forum about guys getting mid-20's mpg on their 6.0s and was very skeptical.....until I got 21mpg two tanks ago, and came back from Tahoe over the weekend with 24.19 mpg. Very impressive.

For the record, I calculate by hand and have a spreadsheet and receipts from EVERY tank of fuel purchased since the truck was new (trip computer is worthless, IMHO). I knew something went well, when I got home after 471 miles and had just over a 1/4 tank of fuel left.

Around town, I usually only get about 15mpg (11 mile commute, usually at 80mph). I think the key to the good mpg on this trip was due to the fact that I had the cruise control set at 69~70mph (based on what my gps was displaying) most of the way to Tahoe. On the way back, I picked up the pace a bit, probably 75mph average. Totally agree that speed is the killer of mpg for the 6.0. Looking at my spreadsheet, I can see where I had decent mpg (like 18+) I have comments to the tune of "mostly 65~70mph", etc. I guess some 6.0s are good, and some aren't. Needless to say, I am pleased with mine.

Re: Milage!!!

I have a new '06 and last weekend I averaged 15.5 mpg. It was mostly interstate highway miles at 70 - 75 mph. I have only had the truck for about a week so I expect to get a couple more mpg out of her once it has a few miles on it. If I can get 17 on the highway I have nothing to complain about. That would be the same mileage as my 2000 7.3 but with much, much more power.

Hey RMJ...we are neighbors. I am in Lakeville.
