I am considering purchasing a 2006 F350 4X4 auto. I am running a 6.9L F350 dualie 5 speed. Keeping that as a farm truck. My concern is mileage. What highway mileage are everyday users experiencing? I would be running unloaded, towing a 3000 lb trailer empty and 7-10,000 lb trailer loaded. TIA
My 24' enclosed auto trailer weighs about 7k with the car inside it. I consistently get just 11 mpg, interstate driving at 68 mph.
This same type driving without trailer, 18 mpg.

Towed my 24' car trailer, loaded up to around 10k from cali to tx. averaged a little over 11 going 65-70 most of the way. daily unloaded I'm getting about the same, but I have rarely touched a freeway, and have been romping it when i can , haven't had a long road trip unloaded so i can't comment on freeway mpg.

Recently towed my 31' fiver averaging 13-14mpg which included climbing a 6% grade at 55mph. Total weight of the fiver loaded was about 10,500lbs. Average speed was 62mph and total distance 780 miles.

I just completed a 9000 mile trip in the western states over the past three months. Hand calculated milage for the total trip was just under 12.5MPG. About 6500 miles of this trip were completed towing a travel trailer which weights around 5000 lbs.

I have a Tow Boss and I get 7.5mpg towing my 16,000lb 5er at 75mph.
I get 10mpg towing my 4000lb boat at 65-70mph.
I get 8mpg towing my flatbed trailer with my rail on it, I would say 4000lbs and going 75-80mph.
I'm giving 3 examples so you can get an idea of different setups.
Doesn't seem to matter what I tow with those 4.30 gears, I can't get better than 10mpg, probably due to speed and rpm's.

Mileage question gets asked quite a bit! With my "04" F350 6.0L diesel I get 16.7 to 17.4 (hand calc.) unloaded. With any trailer wiring hooked into the truck, mileage drops between 9.5 to 10, doesn't matter the weight. Sorry to hi-jack the thread but does any one know which wire in the trailer wire harness tells the computer to automatically drop the fuel mileage?

i took my brothers 05 CC drw 4x4 , with a roll back trailer from buffalo ny to evansville indiana traveling just a hair over the posted speed limits (65-75mph) the computer in the truck showed i was getting from 12.5 to 13.5 miles per gallon , picked up a 30 hp kubota tractor with a mower backhoe and loader attachment on it , so it weighed 4000lbs maybe , milage droped to 12.9 to 13.1 back to ny. i have no idea if that computer is accurate , but will say this...damn it was nice towing in that.

My 2006 F350 crew cab, camper package, auto tranny and 3.73 pulling 12k trailer gets 7.4 MPG on it's best trip at 75 MPH average. If I drop it down to 65 MPH I can squeeze 8 MPG out of it on flat land. Around town, unloaded, I get 14.4 best. On the highway, unloaded, I get 19 MPG.
These are all hand calculated, averaged on full tank. No marketing hype..real world!

I have a 2005 F350 4X4 /DRW with a 430 Rear and Tow Comand. Just pulled my 31Ft Artic Fox at 10k lbs through hills of western pa heavy grades @ 55MPH and the computer on board states today states 11.5MPG. I get 13MPG normal but only have 15K on the truck waiting until I get to 25-30k miles before I buy a chip.
With the slide in camper and towing the boat at 70 I get about 11, with the empty flatbed (2200 Lbs.) about 12.5 at 75, with 4 tons of hay across the passes on same about 10.5 at 70, with just the slide in at 75 about 10.5, empty at 75 about 16.5. This is all hand calculated over several thousand miles in each configuration.
