More Newby EGR/Filter questions

I tried to remove the EGR to check or clean. Got the bolts out and the unit to slightly move (1/16th inch) left to right and even less up/down. Am I missing a step? I did a search and didn't find anything if having problems removing the EGR. The truck has 66K. Do I really need to do this yet? Trying to take the advise of several members here.

Also, while crawling underneath the truck (just being nosey) I noticed a filter connected to what looks like the coolant lines. Its a factory filter as far as I can tell. Its located on the passengers side just to the rear of the radiator.
Is this a coolant filter?

Thanks again for any help.

Gary

I made a thread about how to remove and check the EGR valve. Might help.
EGR valve replaced, how-to with pictures

The filter you are describing is the transmission filter. The NTZ one is made for Ford and contains the rubber o-ring, normally sold separately.

By the way, is that a Beagle in your avatar?

We have one thats spoiled rotten. She is sleeping on the couch now.
Much to my wife's displeasure. <smile>

We live in West Virginia not to far from Lexington, Va.
My sister lives in Richmond though.

Anyway, thanks again.

No problem, Gary. Yes, that is my beagle, Moxley in the picture. His favorite campsite is Douthat State Park between Lexington and West Va., probably very close to where you are.

We just got the truck and a toyhauler. We are in Lewisburg about 45 minutes from Douthat. Next time you go camping there,PM me, and hopefully we can show up at the same time.
