More power than normal?

This may be normal but I didn’t expect it. I was at a stop next to another rig (Chevy with trailer). Light turned green and I hit the gas. As the turbo spooled I broke traction pulling my 6K lb trailer. I just wasn’t expecting it. I kind of was embarrassed for a moment.

Do others experience this? So far I am quite happy with this truck.

Re: More power than normal?

I've turned the tires over towing my 32' boat (13,000 lbs.) as the tires hit the large white line at the intersection. I adjusted the boat a little forward on the trailer and it won't do it anymore.

Re: More power than normal?

Do you have a weight distribution hitch? If you have transferred a little too much weight to the front suspension you can spin the tires. I did it once - just backed the weight distribution hitch chains down one link and no more tire spin.

Re: More power than normal?

That may be it. I do use a WDH but I dont crank it much at all as my trailer rides low in the back already (two links hanging). I also load as much weight to the front of the trailer as possible. I would guess that I would do fine without the WDH. Even with the trailer it puts you back in your seat when mashed.
