This is my first post to this forum. After searching through the other posts, I have not found a thread dedicated to estimates of fuel economy for the following:
What kind of mileage do you get on your given F 350 setup, or what would you expect, on average, assuming you were not towing anything?
I have found a few estimates, but if everybody just put their answers into one thread, then it would be easier to estimate fuel economy for these trucks.
DRW, SRW, total miles on said engine, current flash, 2x4, 4x4, reg cab, crew cab, big tires, lifted, lowered, tonneau cover, summer or winter fuel blend, 6-speed, automatic, gears, tuner/module/programmers, exhaust, aftermarket air filters, synthetic fluids, truck weight, year of engine model, flat ground, hills, altitude, day or night driving, interstate or city driving.......the list can go on and on and on
All or any of the variables will affect MPG. Your poll is justifiably worthless.
I think it will be good way to see what most of the 6.0s are really getting for mileage no matter what they are running. I think the 15 and under bracket is a little high. Should have gone down to 13 and under.

Last Friday: Durant, OK, to Kansas City, MO, via U.S. 69 & 71, cruise control set at 70 (~2000 rpm): 18.3 mpg. Last Monday: Kansas City, MO, to Plano, TX via U.S. 71, 69 & 75, cruise control set at 70 (2000 rpm): 19.6 mpg. Average for the approximately 900 miles: 19.0 mpg. Average speed for the trip, as shown on my Garmin GPS, was 63 mph.

Although I gotta agree w/ Mike & Hal - the poll is top heavy, and there are way to many varibles to just blanket say "F350 running empty". Everything Mike posted will affect milage, some add, some subtract, and everything counts. What about tire pressure, additives & alternative fuels? I run B-20 to B-50 most times.
You might get a little closer w/ an F250 - at least you get rid of a set of rear end gears & dual rear wheels.
My 250 @ 65 does 19-20, in hilly terrain, at moderate altitude, mostly highway. There's just too many variables to make any MPG poll really meaningful.

My truck - 2004 F250 Ext. Cab, 4X4, SRW, LWB, 3.73 Gears, 41,000 miles on the odo. - I get around 15 MPG empty.
My buddies truck - 2004 F250 CC, 4X4, SRW, SWB, 3.73 Gears, ~34,000 miles on the odo. - He gets a consistant 16-17 MPG empty.
Now here's the kicker...we drive EXACTLY the same route to a certain intersection. He then travels further into Houston in more stop and go traffic and drives his truck with a true lead foot.
Someone please explain that one to me. We both have the same flash code. Do I need to start driving mine like a complete bat out of hell to get better mileage???
I don't believe that the difference in manufacturing tolerances from his truck to mine would cause this gap in mileage.
well let me add my penny
I have 430 gears so it tachs 2100- 2500 when i drive on th highway
now on my drive home if am easy on the pedal i run at 65 (speeed limit) for ten miles and it get 16.4
now if i speed and run at 75 my mpg meter wil climb up to 16.8
and on the mountain climb on the way home 600 plus feet in a mile and .6
if i hold it hold 70 mph on the climb it jumps up and will stabilize at 16.5
yes this is on the lie o meter but so far its been very accurate
on the highway on long runs the engine feels the happiest at 75-77 mph, which is spinning old girl fast and we still get high 16's to low 17's
which is inline for the hp and tq curves
at 2500 and above to around 3300 is right in the power curve tq wise
so that probably helps with the mpg

I agree, your poll is worthless....but not based on it's content, based on the stupid answers some people have given for whatever reason.
The majority are getting < 15 MPG running unloaded at 65 MPH?? This is not a V10 poll! Luckily you're geting some much better feedback in some (I did say "some" )of the replies
I went ahead and answered and answered 20-21. 19-20 may be a better/more consistant answer but I can get better than 20 running like that.

Well geez, Mike, the poll might be worthless, but the question isn't. I have restated the question.
Various factors will affect the fuel economy, but look at the long term. Sure, you might drive in the mountains, but do you usually drive there? Or you might drive your rig on flat highways, etc.
One could say "I get 19 mpg but I drive like a grandpa on flat surfaces in cruise control" or another might say "I get 10 mpg but I have it in 4x4 and do a ton of hauling".
All I want to figure out is the fuel economy based on first-hand accounts.
Just assume it is your avg. F 350 used for highway driving, mostly. That's all.
Sorry if I sounded so cruel. Didn't intend to be...
There are a majority of us that get 12-15 mpg. Some complain about 9-10 and other claim to get 23-25.
As to the 23-25mpg.....I'd really have to have some proof to believe that. Especially on some of these 4x4 Crew cabs that claims high MPG.
Considering any and all factors/truck combinations possible, I feel you should see around 13-15mpg.
BTW...there was a poster awhile back that claimed 26+ mpg while driving at night, all interstate w/cruise control on, drafting behind a big rig....
