Hey guys, is this severe? I still have an extended warranty, but I just haven't had time to take it in. So does this need immediate attention, or can it wait a week or two?
First off, what color is the coolant in the degas bottle, pretty much clear or does it look like chocolate milk? If it is still clear do you have the degas bottle filled past the "min" line while not running? if it is past the min line then expect it to puke until it gets itself down to the mark. Clear, not filled past the fill line then the best thing to do is go have it checked as there is a multitude of things that can be going wrong and can get pretty costly with replacing parts until it stops... Now if it looks like chocolate milk then you more than likely have a bad oil cooler which is pretty common on these trucks due to the design.
I guess the answer to your question is if it's clear then you can wait a bit (keep an eye on the coolant level), if it's chicolate milk then you need to get it in for repairs as soon as you can as the longer you wait the more sever the repairs will be.

Oh and you said it's still under warranty... If it's the truck in your sig seems to me the 5/100,000 warranty is up unless you have an added warranty???

Well the coolant is below the minimum fill line, and its still pretty clear, so what does that mean?
And I bought an extended warranty from Ford to 200,000 miles.

What would cause the 'chocolate milk' condition? Some sort of contamination, obviously....

If coolant is below the minimum fill line and still puking you need to take it in and get it diagnosed. Can be anything from a bad degas cap to oil cooler, egr cooler, head gasket, and anything in between... just get it checked before you have bigger issues arise.
And you will know once the oil cooler lets go as your oil and coolant will start to mix thus causing the chocolate milk syndrome...
i would get it in as soon as possible. you never know when it might make a turn for the worse and leave you stranded and/or cause extensive damage. good luck and thank goodness you are still under waranty.

Ha you have no idea! I've already broke even with what I paid for the warranty when I had to get all 8 injectors replaced. And now maybe another possible $4000 that Ford is gonna have to fork out to fix my truck Gotta love it

Before you panic you might want to invest in the new style Degas cap used on later PSD's that seals better. The early caps are prone to leaking, my 03 had similar staining on the hood lining when I bought mine and I had the seller pay for a new cap...it's never puked yet even while towing on a real hot day. If the cap doesn't solve it you'll probably be looking at a new oil cooler replacement and a new coolant filter at the very minimum.

6.0's didn't come from the factory with coolant filters! He should however seriously consider installing one. Great investment for the price.

Ha I'm not panicking at all. Honestly, now, I want it to be a failed EGR cooler or blown headgaskets! I called my diesel tech today, and before I even said anything he was talking about Studs! He said, if it is something wrong, he will install head studs and an EGR cooler at no cost if I supply the parts Turns out, he works at a diesel shop nearby that specifically works on modifying the 6.0ls
So, any way I can guarantee its a failed cooler or blown headgaskets? I had something pour out of my exhaust pipe today when i put her in a powerstance, a minute after I cranked her up. It was kind of a milky/clear substance. It let enough out in ten seconds that you could easily notice it on gravel. Do you think it's coolant?

I assumed anyone here that has read anything about 6.0 puking problems realizes none of these trucks came with a coolant filter and they are needed for longevity. That's why I said 'replacement' oil cooler and 'new' coolant filter because it's not a replacement; it's new.
Thanks for the semantics lesson though and I'll be more clear next time.

Agreed, I put a new coolant filter on my truck every january. Have had a coolant filter on the truck since new at 3,000 miles.
