Need help with surging on 03 Excursion ith 6.0L

This issue is becoming extremely dangerous. First off, the truck is a 2003 Excursion with the 6.0L with about 59K miles. They just replaced the center section of the turbo, but I had the issue before they did that as well.

The truck will surge while parked and idling, sometimes even stalling completely. It will also surge while stopped at a stop light (very dangerous if you are not expecting it) and has even started surging while driving and not on the accelerator. I took it to Ford a month or so ago and they could not duplicate nor could they see any codes. It actually surged extremely bad right before I turned into the dealership to drop it off, so I can't imagine why they could not find any codes. I do not want to waste the time to bring it in again unless I can ask them if they have checked specific items.

Sooooo, what could the issue be? EGR valve? ICP sensor? FYI, they replaced the ICP sensor about 4-5 months ago. Could it be bad again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate not be able to trust the truck, especially since this is my wife's truck and she carries our 2 boys around.

Sounds like an ICP sensor problem. Do you know if the pigtail was changed when the sensor was? If not, it may just be the pigtail itself.

ICP sensor= Injection Control Pressure sensor it reads the psi of your high pressure oil system..

It is under the turbo on the driver's side, in the HPOP cover.. And it is a pain in the backside to get to and change on the 03 and early 04 models. Thankfully, there is a write up in the 6.0 FAQ that tells you how to change it on an 03.....

I posted in another thread. My problem ended up being the engine wire harness. There was a short somewhere, so they replaced the entire harness and it fixed the problem. I had the ICP replaced about 6 months prior. If changing the ICP does not help, try the harness.
