New 05 -F350

Traded in my almost perfect 65k miles 2000 F350 for this new F350. See sig.
Had 5 miles when I did the test drive and 105 when it came back from the upfitter.. the very nice Gooseneck brand alum bed with tool boxes and hitches.
Only been out one time since Fri. Towed the flat trailer with a tractor and mower.. about 8K? Did great.
Not use to the stick shift. Did one baddie.. did dwon shift too quick, 3 to 2 and I heard a whirr noise but got the clutch in fast and back to 3rd.. Appears nothing wrong. Pulled the hills here great.
Not sure what is 'right' yet.
Boost never went over 20#.
Tested all the stuff today - 4x4, air, - like the hot water heater in line auto valve..no more heat in cab in vent mode.
After 3 yrs of the auto, its going to take a while to get use to the shifts.. and remember to put in the clutch at the redlights.
Getting use to the low RPM no-low torque will be a problem.
I just did not want to deal with auto issues anymore.
Not may questions yet, found most answers here on this list and a few others.
Have to get the dealer to put on the block heater cable, they said it was there.. but its not.
Dont think I will get the April flash.
Sure do like it better then the 2000. At least so far.
Only mod I plan is the POST tubo temp gage. Dealer SM has no problem with that or the 4 in cat back piping. BUT was not going to buy the air filter change from stock. What I read the stock is just fine.
Going out next week with the trailer and one horse. Wont have 500 miles on it but I plan on taking it easy.

Any advise?

Re: New 05 -F350

The break-in info I read says you should drive it empty for the first 1000 miles at varied RPMs. Then take it out and pull it hard. After that drive as you normally would.

Enjoy your hand-shaker. After you get it broke in, don't be afraid to tach it up. I usually run it up to about 3K before I shift.
