New 05...intermittently cuts out while driving

Re: New 2005, 6.0L (built 4/05), F250 FX4, AT, CC, ~150 miles....

Hi gang.

I've enjoyed reading and learning from your posts prior to making my new purchase. I hope some of you can give me some insight here.

Just took delivery of my new Super Duty last Saturday, but have already experienced a slight problem. While taking the family for a 'joy ride' on Tuesday, the engine "missed"...twice within about 10 miles of each other. It was a VERY short, quick hesitation (less than 1 second)...almost like the engine lacked fuel for a split second. These misses occurred while traveling at highway speed (~65 mph).

Drove it a couple of more times since then without incident.

Scheduled an appointment with the dealer for this past Friday.

The engine missed again on the way to the dealership. This time the miss seemed to be a little longer in duration--perhaps 2 misses back-to-back (if that makes any sense).

The dealership kept the truck over the weekend and called me today with their findings....

They said that the computer analysis did not show any problems. Everything, including the injectors, checked out fine. They suggested that I put a few more miles on the truck and see what happens. They said that it sometimes takes the (truck) computer a while to "settle in."

I reluctantly agreed and thus will pick up my truck this afternoon.

I welcome your comments/thoughts.

Re: New 05...intermittently cuts out while driving

Your dealer may be right. My 04 stumbled or hesitated 2 or 3 times when it was new with less than 200 mi. But it has not done it since.

Re: New 05...intermittently cuts out while driving

Ny 05 has done this 4-5 times in the last 2K miles over 11K now. I look over and see if anyone else noticed it. It is just a one split second stumble then back to action. It really freaks me out when I am a ways from civilization.

Re: New 05...intermittently cuts out while driving

At first, they thought it might be part of the "Loose Wiring Harness to Fuel Injector" service bulletin but that apparently wasn't the case. The harness on my truck was good.

Maybe this TSB 05-11-14 has something to do with it. Hmmm.

I will bring it to their attention.

Any other suggestions?
