New 6.0 owner

Just bought a 04 Excursion with a 6.0 in it. I've been reading a lot about problems. What should I be looking for?

Re: New 6.0 owner

For, every negative story there is a positive one this truck is no different than any other I don't know of any truck that is perfect. I would keep the oil and filters clean and enjoy! If you happen to have a problem you will know it.

Re: New 6.0 owner

Thanks, I have had my 96 7.3 since it was new and definitely knew when it had probs. Similar to recent posts, my 96 F250 stalled while driving on the freeway. Took it to a dealer, then took it in the shorts. Dealer mech was clueless.

Re: New 6.0 owner

Get the dealership to run an OASIS report for you. This will tell you past repair history.

Re: New 6.0 owner

By '04 a great many of the 6.0 problems were already "fixed". They changed the troublesome fuel injectors (C-94s) and changed the computer and several modules programming and even their locations. Most of the early problems were not mechanical.
My early '03 hasn't had any of the problems that sound so extensive and serious on this forum.
Enjoy your rig. As a previous writer said, do the maintenance, and if you are nervous about your new acquisition, go to a Ford dealer and ask for an "Oasis report". Put your mind at ease. Don't be afraid to get the latest computer "flash" updates.
