New Excursion for my wife? - Diesel Forum

Hey all,

I have an early 99 7.3 truck that I love. My wife wants to buy an X. I would tend toward wanting another 7.3 since I already know this engine. Should I worry about it, or do any of you that have had both think that I should tell her to look for the rig she likes without concern for which engine it has?

Please don't waste my thread with mindless fanboy statements for either engine.

My wifes 5'2" and loves her X...after I fixed the crap stock suspension..easy fix. Pics on my link. If you would like additional info PM me. If you can find a 7.3 great if not get a '04 with a 6.0. '05 headlights suck.

I bought an '05 for family use. I love the power delivery of the six litre.
I really like the five speed transmission as well.

I don't get the bounce and jounce that was the trademark of the 2000 limited excursion that we drove for a year.

I chose the 2005 because it is my best chance of getting a truck that benefitted from all the improvements that ford made.

Either way you will get a big truck that hauls and moves it all. I have a big family and I tried to downsize. What was I thinking??????LOL
