You want to look at your engine build date, which is on the yellow sticker on the PCM. It's a little hard to find an angle from which to read it, but it'll look like 250106 (1/25/2006). My truck was assembled on the 26th and my engine build date is the 25th. I don't know how far apart the engine build date and truck assembly date typically are.

Ok my truck build date is 1-15-06 but my motor build date shows 1-06-06. I guess this means that even though my truck was built after they made the motor changes and should have gotten the update they needed to use up inventory on the old design
I was just emailed from my dealer that they checked on my truck build and said Yes it does indeed have the Communization Engine! I hope with this new updated engine I will not experiance any coolant puking and head gaskets to replace like our 04 did.
I have to say that I love our new F-350 and it pulls our when loaded 19k 5th wheel like its not there.

This info should answer your questions....The original document(pdf) contained part diagrams that pointed out the changes, otherwise it's as published...

Soooooo....how's all this improve performance, or is this early retooling?
Shucks, I'd be happy if they'd fix the EGR system. It's a recurring pain-in-the-kiester for just about everyone not running 90% highway miles.
Several hundred hwy miles sure clears mine out. Wish I did that more.
Ryan, the month/year build that you're referring to is on your door jam, right? This is when the truck was built at the truck facility. The engine build date that these other guys are referring to is(or used to be) on a 5x5 type label on what I believe is the fuel injector control model, which is mounted on the driver side of the engine, but near the back, kinda above the valve cover. Mine is visible by standing at the fender on the driver side, and peering down at the engine, by looking under the coolant degas bottle.

3/19/11, Converted to (red) Delo ELC, new bottle & cap, all temps reading good, orig EGR & OIL coolers, probably thanks to the coolant filter, and previously frequently flushed Motorcrap Gold.
I have 5000 miles on my 06 now and there's zero oil oozing from the IC boots, zero oil splattered on the hood like my 05 had, and zero dried coolant around my degas bottle. I don't remember how many miles I had on my 05 before I had all 3 of the above, but it couldn't have been much beyond 5k if even that many.
What are you other 06 owners seeing? Especially those of you with engines built after the commonization switchover (1/11/06).
