I own a 98 Ram 12v and am looking at a 04 F250 with the PSD and i REALLY prefer Ford trucks over the dodge, and the dodge just doesnt have the power or the trans behind the motor to hold the power if i made it to do the towing i need. I pull 8-10k lbs on a semi' daily basis and really love diesels.
My dilema is, i found a cherry 1 owner 250 with the PSD, but it has 96k on it. I have read so many bad things about the 6.0 but i really like the truck, the Ford is so much better in many wany ways then the dodge, but the 12V CTD is about as simple/reliable as you can get.
To stop rambling, would anyone in the right mind, but a 6.0 with 100k on it for 26k? Its fully loaded and VERY clean well maintained, with all service records.
I only paid 8K more than that when I bought mine brand new....seems high to me.
Whatever you do get an OASIS run on it to see it's repair history.
PM me if you need to know where to look to get one run.

Thanks for the quick replies, its pretty much fully loaded down to the key pad door locks..heh, which are utterly useless. What is wrong with a key??? honestly..
I was really asking if the mileage would steer anyway clear of it due to the hit/miss dependability of the 6.0.
I understand on a specific forum like this, usually it SEEMS really bad since most people only post their problems, much like on my car forum, i own a 550awhp(pump 93) 99 VR4 and need a new rig for towing it to shows since i hate putting the miles on it.
Like the other replies said, have an OASIS report run. Seems like the '04's were kind of hit and miss with the engines - either you get a really good one or a problem child. No in betweens. If it has a clean history, buy it, enjoy it and don't look back!!

I agree, i found several 250's within 100 miles of me with 1/2 or 1/3 the miles for the same or LESS money and newer. Unfortunatly, the damn thing blue books at 26, ugh. I say 20-21k out the door would be more reasonable for me. Opinions?

Jason, if you got what you wanted, it's a good buy. If you didn't, it wouldn't be a good buy for 25 cents.
I wouldn't worry about the mileage, I'd play like it was new and enjoy it!

I got mine for 23000 its an 04 f350 crew cab fx4 with some mods on it and only 84000 miles on it. I did do an oasis on it befor I bought it and it was clean! If it has a clean oasis with it it could be worth a million if not its not worth a dime!

Quick update! Finally got to put a real load on it, Pulled a 9500lb tractor on a 3500lb trailer from my parents farm to their new place. The 6.0's power delivery is MUCH different than my old Cummins but once you stick your foot in it and get above that 2k rpm point, even with 6 tons behind her shes just GOES! I freakin love this thing. I also pulled a freinds car back from PA with it, he owns a 02 Suberben with the whimpy 5.3L V8 and it has a very hard time in the hills and sucks down gas to the tune of 8mpg. Didnt even notice the 6500lbs behind me, up or down hill, cruise control the whole way. Returned 17mpg. Hes currently shopping for a Diesel truck now. HA!
The truck is totally stock aside from a banks intake, im considering the exhaust but dont want to mess with my warrenty and it does all i ask it to do w/o breaking a sweat, its a TRUCK not a racing vehicle.
EDIT: Also, i freakin LOVE how this thing sounds under load accelerating hard! The PSD with the tq shift 5spd sound soooooo much tighter and better than my rattly old Cummins. Little things like that are proof i'll never grow up
Congrat's Jason,I am assuming you got the truck you were refering to in the original post?
