Re: new noise that i can't trace
it isn't loud at all. i believe the TSB refers to it as a tappet noise. if you aren't familiar with the noise these engines make you would probably never notice it, as i said my wife thought i was crazy. it isn't even a fraction (maybe 1/10th?? at idle or a little more at about 120 per minute??) of engine rpm in my estimation. yes you can hear it over AC and road noise ....radio.... well that depends. you hear it best at light acceleration. if you have anything on the throttle the engine noise will mask it. i don't feel like i had any long crank issues, but i never really considered that, as i hadn't read the post yet. there was one time this weekend that i released the key before it started, as i feel like i am programed to release after a certain time that i am used to it taking for the engine to start.
take it in and mention the TSB, that gives them trouble shooting guidelines that will in 5-10 minutes and let you know if this is the cause or not. i think that it is covered under broadcast message 5511. one thing the tech did complain about was the lack of part numbers he was given by the computer. i don't know if the p/n that jschall provided was something they had or could easily find, but i gave them that as well, since this will leave you DIW when it does completely go.
all is great info and why i love the site. thanks for all the help and sharing of knowledge....god....how did we survive with out the internet for all these years....
