No boost

Hi all. New "rookie" to forum.
My truck: 2004 F250 XLT, ext. cab, 2wd., 6.0, auto.
I tow: 32ft 5er. 12000lb loaded.
Any body have a clue???
While towing last week, heard a "pop". Lost all boost & power. Had trailer towed. Today, installed new intercooler boots on passenger side. No change.
Any help??
Buddy

Any DTC's? What boost numbers are you seeing? Any other symptoms (white exhaust, noise, etc)?

When I was towing and towing hard had the pop, more of a boom for me, and I blew the black hose that goes under the battery on the drivers side. It blew a quarter size hole right in the corregated part of the hose. Service manager at Ford garage told me that the black plastic should be replaced with the sluminum ones for just that reason. I lost all power and boost, not to mention the loud noise very similar to the old carberator cars with the air cleaner off. I could not see the hole, but could hear it and when I stuck my hand under the battery, I could feel the hole.

Good luck,
Bondo©

No Boost

No boost readings, no DTC's, no smoke, white or black.

I'm going to be nice and warn you up front that getting a reply from me isn't always a pretty thing..

You have no boost and, from your description, you have a hole in what sounds to be a CAC tube....

Fix that first and then re-assess the concern. You have a nice "handle"... Please don't let me be an acidy old curmudgeon.

No Boost

Update:
Pulled air filter & box. Checked all innercooler boots & pipes. Put superchips performance program in, just to see what would happen. Hp much higher, but no boost. CEL came on. DTC codes: P00603, P1000, P2623. Lots of smoke under this tune up. No smoke under stock tune up.

Sounds like a possible injector failure (P0263 Cylinder 1 contribution/balance fault). When I lost the #4 injector the engine was producing little boost, but still boost. When you say "no boost" do you mean it in the literal term, as in "no boost", or is there still a liittle boost?

P2623 is a concern with the IPR circuit... an electrical concern so at least we don't have to mess with datalogger and gauge readings... The IPR (injection control pressure regulator) is duty cycled by the PCM. One side of the two wire connector should have B+ on it and should be load tested rather than using a voltmeter as the pinpoint test is likely to suggest. You can use an ohmeter to test continuity through the IPR itself (should be between 3 and 15 ohms) but a better test would be to feed it B+ and a known good ground and feel/listen for the click. In my humble experience, it is rare for these to fail electrically. Key on engine off, IPR duty cycle will migrate to about 14% (warning - memory thing happening) making it necessary to load test the control side of the circuit by disconnecting the PCM connector. Notice I have, once again, mentioned "load testing" the circuit. The PC/ED manual is chock full of inappropriate test procedures.

Great post GrampyJim - thanks.

If it is the IPR:

Later 04 (and up) ICP sensor change - passenger side valve cover (production beginning 9/03 placed the ICP here).
