Driving home from work this morning at about 32 degrees out. Truck was running fine and blowing heat. The all of a sudden temp gauge rises and no heat. Then a humming sound like I was driving in 4 low. The the sound would go on and of. Heat came back on and stayed good. Got home checked for codes and none. Any ideas?

You are about 2 gallons low on coolant. The humming is the fan kicking on. It goes off once the temp drops. The extremely cold outside temp keep the truck from overheating. With no external leak you either have a bad EGR cooler or a blown head gasket.
'02 WRX - Outback rear disc swap, EBC green pads, pillar vane front rotors, TXS UP/TBE/TMIC, Perrin LW crank pulley, PPG billet steel shift forks, ACT Streetlite flywheel & clutch, K&N filter, STi Group N motor/trans mounts, TiC/Kartboy rear diff mounts/subframe lock bolts/outrigger stiffeners, Kartboy SS & all shifter bushings, custom PDX tune for Cobb AP - went 14.1 on a terrible 60ft before most of these mods; shooting for 13.50s
Gonna do an EGR delete and coolant filter soon. Hopefully not head gaskets. If so guess i am doing studs also. Just got the truck but need maintenance that was not done. Probly better do oil cooler with the egr delete.

I would just do it all at the same time. So much of the work is duplicated that it is much easier once it's already apart. Do HGs, studs, EGR cooler delete, oil cooler, and updated STC fitting (if your truck is an '05 up). It isn't worth the repeated tear down. Many times a blown EGR cooler kills the oil cooler and/or a head gasket anyway.

Ok. Checked coolant and it is low. I also bought the new updated cap for the coolant fill. As I was checking and getting ready to fill I noticed the coolant is green. I just got this truck a few days ago. I thought the coolant was gold. Just bought motor craft gold and it is not what is in it. With new lid on for one trip to work, no humming and heat was fine but still coolant came out the new lid. Temp gauge showed fine. Any ideas.

IF you do and EGR cooler delete you may as well do the oil cooler and the STC fitting all right there while in there.
Yes you must drain the coolant if you plan on a delete and have the intake off.

If I am going to eventually going to do egr delete and oil cooler should i do coolant swap and all at same time. I guess i need to get this green coolant out.
