o4 6.0 does not get up to operating temp

My 04 6.0 will not reach 192 temp. even on hot days unless operated at high speeds or up mountain grades but cools back to around 168-178.My thermostat has been replaced . Any thoughts where I should start next. Thanks chris

You may have gotten a bad thermostat was it a motorcraft or an aftermarket.
Ford/motorcraft are designed to fail open.

And it sounds like that's what's happened. Either that or you've got a bad sender. Are you sure those temps are real or just what you're seeing on the gauge?

Had the same problem. Changed to a new ford thermostat, then an aftermarket, and then another Ford . The last one brought the temps up. Also when the temps are low my deltas were greater. I had even done the flush, and was running with cardboard in front of radiator. So good luck, and get a Ford thermostat from a different dealer. So your maybe not getting one from the same lot. About drove me nuts trying to figure that one out.
Guess I need to update my sig to reflect the cure on low temps.
