Odd ABS Light Symptoms...

All,

I have an odd problem. I am afraid of how expensive it may be or worse yet an electrical short that will be difficult to find...

When driving on the freeway at 70mph with the cruise on (Flat road not on a hill)...The cruise will kick it self off...and then the speedo drops for a sec, and the the ABS light turns on. If I reset the cruise speed, it continues to humm along no problem. The ABS light will stay on for awhile or turn off, or is off the next time I start it...

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Cj

I had a 06 gasser F-350 that did the same thing. The dealer could never find anything wrong though. If you find out let me know.

cj,

It could be the speed sensor in the rear. My 99 and 06 did that and it was the speed sensor. I think it cost around $20.00 to do it your self. The sensor is/was on the front top of the rear diff.

RESOLVED: speed sensor in the rear

It was the speed sensor in the rear....And was the cause of a few other odd issues including a speedo issue, and the trans issue (intermittantly not moving forward on a trip - like it was slipping 4 times on a 1 hour trip)

Can someone provide the part # for that speed sensor? I cannot find it for whatever reason - all I find is a front ABS speed sensor for my 2006 F350

Its F85Z-9E731-AB. They are 27 and change at most Ford dealers.
