I just had my oil changed and had them do an onsite oil analysis. What am I exactly looking for when I look at this report? Since this was done at a big truck lube stop they really didn't know what I should be looking for since all the info they have is for big trucks.
Send a sample in to Blackstone Labs and they will explain the findings. Order some sample containers online from the and the whole thing costs about $20. I have had mine done a few times.

I have already had the analysis done... I have the print out from them that shows all the lead, fuel and such in the oil. I was just looking to get information on what should be the normal levels of everything that I have on the print out.
Assuming you're running 10w40 and have typical miles on the oil, most everything looks good. The viscosity was tested using vSc at 100°C, which puts it solidly in the 40w range (that's good, no sheardown or dilution). Your TBN (total base number) is the acid-neutralizing capacity still in the oil. It gets lower as additives are consumed, and is related to your oxidation. Hard to gauge on yours without knowing type of oil, miles on oil, etc. Your tin is a little high (univ. av. is 1), which may indicate bearing or coating wear, but again, need more history to know what significance that has.
