Exclamation oil cooler

Hi, I just ordered a new oil cooler over ebay and need to replace the old one. I had white smoke on my 2005 F350 and took it to the Ford dealer, 3000 miles over warrenty. They told me I needed a oil cooler and a egr valve. I replaced egr with a bypass kit and am wondering. Where is the oil cooler, on front of radiator? I can't affoird to pay Ford to replace it can anyone give me a replacement procedure. I did the bypass hopefully it is not rocket science.... Please help.... thanks in advance

The cooler itself is underneath the oil filter base.. All that stuff you took off to do the EGR cooler delete will need to come back off to change out the oil cooler....... From there, it should be pretty straightforward.......

Unfortunately he is correct. If you google "6.0l powerstroke bible" you can download that and it will show you where it is.

Unfortunately the link to the Ford Workshop manual that I had no longer works.

I'm no mechanic, but if your EGR cooler is no longer in place, I would suspect the head gaskets before the oil cooler. I'm not too sure how the oil cooler would cause white smoke out the exhaust.

did they say why you need a oil cooler? probly doesnt even need one, wont cause white smoke, the egr cooler will but not the oil cooler.
