Oil filter ????

I had been getting my oil filters from walmart before the quit selling the ford brand. Can someone tell me a store where I can go pick 1 up for a good price?
I don't have time to have 1 shipped to me.

Thanks for your help.

Bill

Re: Oil filter ????

I buy my Motorcraft filters at Advance Auto Parts. They are about the same price as Wally World.

Re: Oil filter ????

see my sig, plan ahead a little by ordering 2 at a time (which
is about the same as buying ONE from walmart).

also NAPA stores.

Fleet can deliver the filters in about 4or5 biz days worst
case (depending on your location)

Re: Oil filter ????

I have to assume (not living in TX) thay you have a Napa parts store nearby. They sell a Napa branded WIX which is indestinguishable from the Motorcraft. May be a buck or 2 more than Wally Mart but sounds like you're in a bit of a bind. Cheaper than the dealer in any case.

Then when you have time, check the recommended sites/sponsors here. I will next time I need some but got 4 on e-bay; Napa/WIX for $11 each plus shipping, which equaled out to about $13 each.

Re: Oil filter ????

Our walmart (Livingston, TX) has both the Ford one and the Fram one. Both look the same. Price has gone up about $2.00. Heard the worked out a deal with Ford.

Re: Oil filter ????

I know what you said, but buying a few at a time can be a heck of a lot cheaper than buying singles.

Re: Oil filter ????

I went to a NAPA store today to buy an oil filter. When I opened the box at the counter, I noticed that the filter was different in appearance and quality from the other filters I purchased from them.

1) There was no plastic wrap covering the filter.
2) The number filter paper pleats appeared to be fewer than before.
3) The end caps on the filter were not square (i.e. sloppy assembly).
4) The inner part of the filter had a plastic sleeve build into the assembly.

Needless to say, I did not purchase that filter. I drove down the street to a Parts Plus store and looked at a Wix brand filter. The appearance was the same, although the end caps on the filter were square (i.e. better assembly of the filter).

So my question is, what is up with these new Wix filters? They don't look as good as they did just a few months ago.

Re: Oil filter ????

If you are looking for a quality product, the Fleetguard oil filter has a built in bypass element combined with a full flow section. You get a little better filtration with this kind of filter and is what Mercedes has been doing for years.

Re: Oil filter ????

The Wix and the Napa filter are the same. It's well-known in the filter industry that filters are bought and sold between manufacturers and then relabeled as their own - they all do it.

There's no way to know who made that particular filter, but the specs will be OEM or better no matter what it looks like.

Re: Oil filter ????

When I checked at my local dealer about a month ago, Fleetguard did not make a oil filter for the 6.0. I sure hope they do soon. They are top of the line in my opinion. That is all we use on our farm equipment. Does anyone know if and when they are going to make this filter. Thanks.

Re: Oil filter ????

We've found the "Stratapore" inside Wix boxes before for the 6.0.
