Re: Oil Filters

You have convinced me ,and I am sure a few others here, to never use any Amsoil products. It seems that there online sales staff lacks facts to present and trys to annoy perspective customers with sounds of a broken record sales speech. Perhaps you should head over to the Chevy web sites.

Re: Oil Filters

sorry you find how I say things insulting, that wasn't what I intended. I take my truck and the job I ask it to do very seriously, like many do here. I know that Amsoil products are the best on the market and benifit anyone that uses them. I have tremendous respect for AMSOIL the company they built for the true auto enthusiast looking for better oppertunity, not just huge profits

Re: Oil Filters

Oh, Crap! I just changed my oil (25K) and used Rotella and a Motorcraft filter. Is my 6.0 Doomed?

Re: Oil Filters

4613, Im sure Redline is good oil, I have used it in the past, it was better than what I used previously, but it was expensive and didn't last as long as what I found next. yes Redline is good, but they dont carry filters or advertise extended drain intervals past the OEM extended drain interval.
Amsoil started in 1972 with 25k oil drain
Redline started selling oil in 1979 oem drain intervals
Redline is one of the best oils on the market to buy.
use what you want, benefit from it

Re: Oil Filters

Yesterday I saw the Puralator filters are now 2-piece. The filter has the felt washers on both ends and the part that clips to the filter cap is separate so the filter goes in either way then the top fits into the filter. Later I was O'Reilley's and they had the same filter in their brand for $9.99. I don't see any problem in using these filters. They sure looked better that the new WIX.

[/ QUOTE ]

First of all, I want to tell you I am sorry your post went to hell. I have used the Purolator filters twice and I have not seen any problems with them. I change my oil more than needed or recommmended just because I like to. However, if you plan on extended intervals, I think you should probably go with a better quality oil filter.

Re: Oil Filters

Just an FYI - ask Amzoil who makes their filters? They are an oil producing company and have now gotten into the filter business on a limited basis. Could it be who quotes them the cheapest price? Maybe Fram/WIX/or Purolater? Next time any of you call them, just ask and see what kind of an anwer you get.

Re: Oil Filters

I called Racor and got the answer from a guy named Dave in technical support.

Racor makes the OEM oil and fuel filters for Ford (someone else makes the tranny filter).

The Racor's filters or Motorcraft as they make those too.... filter to a lower micon level than other "will fit" filters. I had called to find out the micron level and why my Blackstone reports are coming back as good as those running by-pass filters in addition to the stock set-up.

"Will fit" filters filter to 40 - 60 micron, yet the Racor/Motorcraft made filter goes dowen to 20 micron right out of the box. Have no idea if the new Amsoil 6.0L oil filter is good or not, but if it started to collapse.. then there is a filtering or pressure problem... good or bad... it's a problem.

Amsoil claims to filter better and trap more... but if it is, then how does one know when to change it? Since they cost more Amsoil justifies the cost by longer change intervals.... but with a collapsed filter... you and your truck suffer!!!!

By Motorcraft filters at Walmart or your local Auto Parts Store for $19.99/ea and rest easy!!!!

It has become widely known on this site that oil and filter changes every 5,000 miles is key regardless of how one drives. This motor likes clean/fresh oil and since the motor shears it doen, frequent changes is key!!!!
