Oil Leak...hopefully not a repost.

First time diesel owner...bought on 03 6.0 this past January with only 52K on it. Now has 62K and Leaking oil - about a half dollar size spot on the ground every night. Took it into the stealerships 3 times and still isn't fixed. They said they tore it down the first time and replaced all major seals and dye checked and problem was solved. Second and third time they couldn't find the leak, even though the plate on the front of the tranny was covered in oil and dripping. It appears it might be coming from around one of the bolts on the bottom of the block just above the oil pan. Anyone ever seen this or had similar issue? Need to find another dealership w/ good mechanic to diagnose, factory warranty expires end of this year. Also...when I put engine oil stop leak in the mix, the leak goes away for a few thousand miles. Then slowly comes back.

Appreciate any feedback.

have them check ICP. the 03's are notorious for the icp sensor to go out and leak. top back of motor. just a guess.

Hi i have the same problem with my 05 f250. It is a small leak that is coming off of the front trany plate and it is oil. Very small amount. only leaks when oil is warm. Truck has 72000 miles. i am thinking that it might be the oil pan gasket. wondering if you have gotton this problem fixed yet. Going to the dealer this week to have them look at it. Wondering if this would be cover under the diesel warranty.

Finally took the truck to a respectable dealership and had it looked at. It is definately the bed plate from what they are saying. Apparently they are removing the cab, re-sealing the bedplate, putting in a new rear main seal along with every other seal that comes into contact with engine oil...for a grand total of 3,000.00 Thank God I bought an extended warranty and only paid 1800.00 for it. Good investment. Which brings me to this question, who has had this repair done, and what can I expect when I get the truck back. Removing the cab seems like a big deal, they said the ac system has to be recharged, coolant drained and refilled, ect...ect. Anyone had all this mayhem lead to other problems down the road??? Feedback greatly appreciated.

I have an 03 that had the same problem, after multiple times into different dealers of which one said it was no way the bed plate and replaced every other seal or gasket multiple times and then using the dye with no positive results. Then to the second dealership which replaced many of the same seals to only conclude that it was the bed plate. They pulled it all apart and re-sealed/placed bed plate which fixed the problem for about a month. but it leaks again and its out of warranty and I am over taking it to the dealer so I just live with it now. Hopefully it goes better for you.

Had my bedplate fixed about a year ago and have had zero problems. Engine is dry as a bone and no other problems and they removed the cab.

F--- that. I have a similar leak. Im going to take it in before the warranty is up, but if its anything that require the engine to come out or the cab to come off, ill just deal with it until its out of warranty, then i can't afford to repair it anyway so it can just leak. Its not hurting anything, just an annoyance.

My 03 had the motor pulled 2X and my 06 has had it pulled once. Both trucks had the bed plate leak. If the right people do the work, you will never know it was done. Think of it this way; you get a free coolant change, oil change, freon change. Don't sweat it.
