I have posted here many times, and some regarding the problem with my 6.0 oil leaks. I have been a longtime Ford truck owner, since 1978, with 4 Ford Superduty Powerstrokes over the years: 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006. My last one, the 2006 CrewCab Lariat 4x4 started leaking oil, I noticed it on the driveway of my new house last April when the truck was about a year old with 13,000 miles. From the looks of the driveway, it had been leaking for a while, but I never had that problem with any of the others, so I wasn't looking for it. To make a long story short, in the last year, my truck has been in the shop 7 times, and out of service for 60 days. They have never been able to fix the problem. After all the help here, I told them the 2nd time it was the bed plate leaking. They didn't address that. After trip #5, I got involved with Ford Customer Care and requested a buyback. Told them I loved my Superduty's, but lost faith in this one. No satisfaction from FCC, other than telling me to take it back in. The last time, #7, they pulled the engine to fix a bed plate leak. Sorry, but it was too little to late for me. I got the truck back and immediately drove to another dealer and traded it off. No more Fords for me. I couldn't leave the diesel though, so I now own a Mercedes GL320CDI diesel SUV. Plenty of power from a V6 diesel, and great (25+) mpg. This has been a great forum over the years, with lots of people willing to assist and provide information. Just wanted to say thank you.

Too bad - I wouldn't let what sounds like an incompetent service dept. run me out of my otherwise good-running truck. Yes, some of them leak oil - it should be fixed with the right diagnosis.
Glad you're happy with the Benz.

Sorry you lost your confidence in Ford-but can't say I blame you.
Our '05 Excursion PSD developed a very minor leak around 42000 miles.
When we took it in for service, they told me exactly what you should have been told from the get go-that it was a the bed plate leaking and was fairly common and would be fixed under warranty.
That was a few months ago-now at 45000 plus miles and see no leak at all.
Have to say I do have a good dealer-wish your dealer had been more like mine for your sake and to make things right for you.
Best of luck,
jim

Why is it that people here can say those two things in the same sentence and not have a problem with it? "Good-running truck" and "Some of them leak oil" that ain't supposed to happen in a truck with 12K (Like mine did)
My dealer so far has kept my truck for a week without even looking at it, and then on the last day add some dye to the oil and tell me to drive it for a few thousand miles. Why didn't they just add the dye the day I took it in and then send me on my way?
I guess if they do that enough times I will drive it out of the warrenty!
Oh but they did manage to burn a 1/4 tank of fuel and I almost didn't make it to the pump
BINGO!!!
That is exactally what alot of dealers want you to do.
Ford along with the other 2 cant afford to keep fixing these vehicles.
Alot of the stuff that is going on could be corrected at the factory
they just overlook the issues.
Sorry I know alot of people who work at the very factories these trucks
are produced at.
No offense But Sorry to hear you got rid of an international for a Benz

Actually I said them in separate sentences. And an oil leak may or may not have anything to do with how the truck runs overall. It may run like a stripe-assed ape but leak oil from the drain plug. Proper diagnosis will identify that.

Good question. Did you ask them?

You're preaching to the choir. Sounds like you need to find a different service department.

I was pretty bitter about all my trips to the shop. A visit to the right shop with a competent technician who diagnoses the problem, repairs the problem, and tests his work will make you feel how you should about these machines... bulletproof.
