Oil pressure guage reads zero at idle

my 05 Ex oil gauge sometimes at idle goes to zero, then the check gauge light comes on, if i bump the throttle a little pressure goes to normal instantly, i know it must me the gauge or sending unit as the truck is full of oil and it will idle at zero forever with out shutting off, so there is oil pressure at all times, now where is the sending unit located at?

I don't know where the sensor is on a 6.0, but I can tell you this- the sensor does not send back incremental changes in pressure. It is nothing more than a switch. When it hits a certain value, the switch clicks and your "gauge" reads normal. I sure wouldn't drive it until you verify that it is just a faulty sensor and not a catastrophe in the making..

the6.0 diesel motor will not run with no oil pressure, mine will run forever at idle with the gauge at zero like i posted, so it is a sender or gauge problem 100 percent

it may not be "no" or "zero" oil pressure, but maybe its just LOW enough not to trigger the gauge. I had a 2000 v10 and the oil pressure gauge would bounce from nothing to normal constantly. It was just low on oil.

if low or no oil gets to the HPOP the 6.0 WILL NOT RUN, it is again a guage or sending unit problem, there is plenty of oil pressure at all times, the 6.0 will die and not restart if there is no or low oil pressure, just looking for the sending unit location, i guess the problem here is the post was moved to the the 7.3 area by mistake, thanks for the help so far i will move it back to the 6.0 area
