For the past 6-7 MONTHS I have been going through alot of miles, time, and fuel to go back and forth to the shop(s) for a minor oil leak. I have been through 2 oil pumps, seals, and oil dye....and it STILL leaks. I have a picture on my photo album (below) of what it looks like and the area the oil is coming from.
HELP ! Has anyone else had this problem or has any idea whats causing this to happen. My oil level is showing 3/4 full on the dip stick.
I just got the truck back again and it started leaking 3 days after I brought it home...This is wearing me out !

I did not find your picture, but I must admit I did not look closely. The most common places for leaks are; a) The Glow Plug wiring harness. The oil will run to the back of the engine and down to the bell housing. b)The CPS sensor (camshaft sensor) which is located on the back of your motor. These become loose and leak. c) The Crankshaft sensor and I am not sure about the details but it is like the CPS leak. You don't have a rear seal going bad. This is a common problem. It can be fixed, but it may take a bit longer.

Mine leaked at the same spot and was the o ring on that hex plug. It is the low oil pressure regulator. It never leaked enough to show up on the dipstick.

Unfortunately, I can't look at your pics (the firewall here blocks all the pics on Webshots for some reason), so there's not much I can add at this point. Is there another site other than Webshots where these pictures reside?

10-4, My picture of it is on the F250 album and shows the oil pump with oil seeping from the hex nut on the bottom of the pump.
Its not dumping oil but it is coating the undercarriage and giving a small oil stain on the driveway. Its just annoying that it has been in and out of the garage approx 7 times for the same problem and no one can get it right. (plus its under 15000 miles on the motor)
I will try to get it back in the shop sometime next week.
The glow plug harness was replaced x 1 so far also for a leak.

There are a bunch of us with the same front oil leak that seems to be coming from the hex plug. I had mine replaced and for 3,000 miles it was dry. Now it has started back and seems to be aggravated by towing heavy loads. After a weekend of towing my fiver i noticed evidence of oil spitting all the way back onto the skid plate and transmission x-member.
I also have the hanger at the bell housing too. Rear main seal replaced same time as the hex plug and both appeared to be fixed until i put on an additional 3,000 miles.
I hope we all can look back a year from now an see the real root cause of these leaks. What frustrates me is the hope of a one time repair so that i am not always crawling under the truck for inspection and disappointment. I find it hard to believe that a combination of rear main, bed plate, bus bar, hex plug, cam sensor - you name it; is the cause of the bell housing drip. Something is being overlooked here and perhaps down the road we will know.
Okay, i am off my box now.

I am with ya brother !!! AMEN! I have no complaints on how it runs, etc but when a 40K plus truck leaks oil time and time again with so few miles it makes my blood pressure shoot through the roof !
I dont dare tell my friends that own dodge's, and duramax's, they would eat me up... but I often encourage them to race me with no takers

I don't see why you couldn't. If you look in the 6.0 Bible, there is a plug,o-ring spring and valve in there and that's it. I just made them do it because they over filled my truck by 1.5 quarts first oil change. I know this will get me flamed, but I haven't looked under any diesel of any brand that was oil free underneath.

Yep. Same leak on mine at that hex plug. I had it fixed at the dealer at the first oil change. I'm still seeing a few drops on the garage floor, but I need to make sure that it's not just residual oil from before the repair working it's way down. If it's still leaking then the dealer will get another shot at fixing it. Sooner or later they will figure out how to stop this very common leak - maybe different O-ring material or something.

If you have an '05 with an engine built between roughly Thanksgiving and the beginning of February, it's probably the front main seal.
Don't use just any O-ring on the PRV cap. If the material is incompatible with engine oil (and many are), you'll just be asking for more trouble down the road. The OEM O-ring is the correct material and has a PTFE coating on the outside of it to help keep it from hanging up on stuff as it's installed.
Let's just say I've seen more than a few instances where someone just used an O-ring from Bob's Bait, Tackle, and Auto Parts, and said O-ring was EPDM rubber, which does not get along with oil one little bit...
