Oil in upper air tube before elbow

Ok, let me explain the best I can. I removed the aluminum elbow above the engine that goes into a plastic tube from the intercooler. Once off, I notice oil inside the tube and it was seeping by the clamp. I notice it very dirty under the clamp and just thought it was dirt thrown from the fan. I stuck my hand down the plastic tube and it had a oil film as far as I could reach. What does this mean?? Is it normal??

PS I was installing a new elbow.

Lou

Re: Oil in upper air tube before elbow

It is normal. It is crank case ventilation. You will see this on every stock 6.0.

Yep. Completly normal, and the cause of quite a few hose blow offs, if the clamps aren't tightened correctly.

Thanks guys I was almost panicking. I know I have the rear main seal leak and this one was putting me over the edge.

Racor makes a filter that might help. Try one of the sponsers that handles racor products.
