Here is my issue, my 2006 F250 started leaking oil so I took it to the dealer...no problem oil cooler and it was fixed....about four months later the oil leak appeared again....little drip hanging off of the bell housing, I did my research on the topic and found that it could be the bedplate, so I went to the dealer with pictures and my feeling of what the problem was ( of course women don't know anything) and it came back as the turbo boots, so now I have these blue bandaids with clamps on my hose from the front of the engine that runs into the turbo. So they say it is all fixed, yeah for about a week, guess what my little friend oil leak is back and he brought his friend turbo lag, back to the shop she goes. This time they tell me it could be coming from the head, later on I get a call and the blame it on the person who changed my oil (that is me) and said it was because i used an aftermaket oil filter as for the turbo lag they didn't have an answer. So after paying $200 for my fault and a computer reflash, plus they must have been joy riding since they wasted 1/4 tank of fuel it came home again. I replaced the oil filter with a motorcraft one and then replaced the o-ring for the filter housing and guess what the little oil drip is back.......I don't know what the hell is going on but I am about to go out of my mind. Has anyone exerienced this or have any idea what it could be? Or is Ford trying to get out of expensive warranty work? They say they road test it and it is leak free but if I take it for a 15 min or more drive it leaks for me. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to give you a little background.
If you have under 50K miles, perhaps 100K- you would have to check into it-, it might be under an EPA emission control warranty. You know, leaking a hazardous material onto the road bed when the vehicle is under a warranty.
Or, the 100K mile engine warranty. I never used it, so I am not sure, but aren't our engines under a 100K warranty that includes everything? Including leaks? I would think that a leak would be evidence, or in medical terms- a symptom-, of a larger issue. An issue covered under the 100K warranty.
I remember a few years ago I never had a problem with warranty work. But in the last year or two, with the auto companies dying as they have been, it has been tough getting them to stand behind the warranties.
Does not the Magnuson/Moss act make it ok to use after market filters and such? If the filter company specifies your engine is it not ok to use it without voiding the warranty?
You may want to contact a company such as this one and ask them.....
Though your warranty booklet may be your best resource. It may have everything outlined as to what is covered.

You may want to upload the picture you mentioned and used in your conversation w/ the dealership.
Also, how many miles are on the truck? What mods have been done? Auto tranny? Manual?
Put a signature together to show what you have.

Always said you want somthing done right do it yourself! i hate going to the dealer or any shop in general and i work at one! Grab yourself a really nice and bright LED flashlight pop the hood and find it yourself start at the top look at all the oil lines make sure nuthings spotting you checked the oil filter? check it again then look up from the bellhousing to the top. if heavy on the ground you should get a good idea of where its coming from. on a 6.0 there is a litttle bit of room around the turbo back to the fire wall get back there look around. its gravity, oils going to leak down work in that direction. and if your running synthetic keep in mind that its thinnner and where basic oil would be fine, synthetic might find its way through some cracks or seals. it may be a newer truck but its still a 6.0. good luck

But Whos Truck Do The Women Always Want to Ride in?
if you say its usually just a single drip it could be that they did not clean the engine off real good after the oil cooler was replaced. i would suggest putting some dye in it, cleaning it real good and running it about a hundred miles or so. then get under neath with a blacklight and see if it is new oil. if not clean it real good. i usually go through about 4 or 5 cans of brake cleaner when diagnosing leaks. you can see the dye with a regular light but a blacklight makes it show up better.
They say they road test it and it is leak free but if I take it for a 15 min or more drive it leaks for me. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to give you a little background.
The thing is, the engine is canted so that virtually any leak on the engine will end up on the bellhousing. So to find it, the truck needs to be leaking or it needs to have had dye in the oil so the leak can be traced to its origin. Why don't you take the truck for one of those 15 minute drives that ends at the dealer and let them look at it while it is leaking??

I find a mirror on the end of a long (adjustable) handle (available at most automotive stores) is a handy tool for looking in the nooks and crannies.
If, after all of this, you do find it see if you can take a picture of it, like you did before, to show it to the dealership. Assumming you end up going that route. Then they can't claim "no problem found". That is what I get most of the time. Then, as I drive my '04down the road, the truck takes off on it's own, then sputters, the repeats the scenario, then smoothes out so I can't demonstrate to the dealership.

Oh, and don't forget to smell it. Fuel can sometimes look like oil once it runs down an engine and cleans off the grime.

As far as the MM Act is concerned; Ford does not state that you must use Motorcraft or Racor filters. However it has been well documented here and on other sites that A/M filters do create problems with the 6.0. All the dealer has to do is show that the A/M filter is your problem source and bye-bye warranty coverage. This is one horse that has been totally beaten to death and I think even the Pope knows to stick with OEM filters, Not Wannabees.

DG....6L under warr. oil leaks are covered. I assume u paid PT $100.ded + cost of reflash? FMC says when diag. leaks..add dye/light test to help pinpoint leaks. Some obvious one's dont take dye test. Many place's can leak oil.
I dont understand...bandaid fix on CAC tube?...what problem did o/f cause?...turbo lag, how much lag? What was reflashing for? Way you explain o. leak...repairs done..ok for week. You drive it 15 min. oil leaking, wierd for sure. If oil actually dripping & like TR said..why not drive it right back to dealer? Yeah I know maybe cant etc etc, your choice. Are you ok with going back to same dealer?
the last two oil changes iv e come home with a drip. both times they had to install a new plug and a crush washer. ive never seen or heard of that but it did fix my leak. the pdf above is a great indepth guide to leaks.

I tried that and I can't see anything, when I look under the truck it seems like it is leaking from the head on the drivers side, which is what they thought it was to begin with and then blamed the oil filter.
