The ol front end thump
I chased this problem off & on for over five months. Upper & lower ball joints were bad (at only 48000 miles)so they were replaced. This truck sees a good bit of dirt roads so I really didn't have a problem here. Thou it helped tighten the steering up a bunch, the thump was still there. I then replaced all the front bushings & the thump was STILL thumping. Dove into the truck head on Monday, & found it.... The front left hub was bad. I don't ever remember the truck going thru water that deep, but sure enough there was water inside the hub. From the looks of things this side wasn't locking in 4X4 either. New hub(OUCH, my backside pocket hurts), and two days running the roads and no more thump, no bump, & no PO'ed driver.
