I currently own a 2000 f250 (see sig) I am ready to get a newer vehicle and I afraid of the 6.0 engine. I hear alot of BAD things about them. I am not here to bash the 6.0 just interested in hearing whether or not buying a 6.0 would be a smart move. If it is not then I guess I am let to buying the cummins. Please do not bash I am only trying to make a smart buy and I am looking for guidance.
Know what you are buying. Do a background check on the VIN number, an OASIS report if your buying from a Ford dealer. Stay away from any that have a long and sorted history involving injectors, turbos, EGR coolers or other major engine components. Make sure the engine has never been chipped or had any aftermarket tuning done to it. Mak sure it has all the stock engine parts (air filter, down pipe ect). If it's a well maintained vehicle with a clean history, go for it. Any valid warranty left on the vehicle is always an added plus. If not, keep looking or get that Cummins.
The only problem with the Cummins engine is the transmission that's attached to it and the truck body it sits in. Other then that it's a great engine.

I tow alot of different things monthly. Mostly it is nothing at all heavy compared to most guys on here. The heavest I would say is a 3k flatbed trailer and my 85 k5 4x4. Nothing generally over 10k and it pulls fine. Also a medium size kubota diesel tractor on the same trailer and many things smaller than that including a boat, seadoo, dump trailer and fishing boat. Again none of these things are heavy and my excursion pulls any of this with ease. In comparsion..my previous truck was a tahoe and it seemed to strugle with the tractor or the k5.
