P0299 Trouble Code

The trouble code P0299 (turbo under boost) has set off the check engine light. I have reset it twice and this morning it came on for a third time. I have talked to a couple dealer tech and they don't know or won't give me any advice over the phone. Both dealers close to me don't like mod's, so I don't want to take it in to them. I have an Airraid intake, banks 6 gun & exhaust. Any ideas on the problem? Or a general idea of something that could be causing it?

I think that is all so far...

Re: P0299 Trouble Code

Possibly Sticking VGT Turbo Vanes???

You may want to read the post about the dealer tech who is cleaning turbos to eliminate sticking vanes to reduce or eliminate this issue.

His post says he's having good results with it.

Just a thought.

Re: P0299 Trouble Code

A bad EP input (by sensor or not) will do that as well. It sends data that does not confirm the correct boost so the ECM flags under boost.

Running a tuner mine threw it while I have a bad EP sensor. The Tune is calling for higher boost and the EP is saying the boost ain't there. ECM says "hey, we're not gettig the boost called for". It is, but the EP isn't providing correct data.

Without the tune it hasn't thrown it yet, but the tune calls for more boost. The ECM doesn't know or care how much, just that the exhaust pressure is said to be not reflecting the boost being called for.

With yours being an '06, I don't know what to say. Don't know if it's still using the EP sensor or not. If so, the sensoe is likely corroded as Ford is aware.

Re: P0299 Trouble Code

On my 6.0, P0299 was only cured by replacing the turbo. They tried a coupld of other things - new turbo tube w/blue ends, reseating the entire turbo plumbing - but only the turbo fixed it.

Re: P0299 Trouble Code

Thanks for your help guys. A couple of the guys around here also told me that a new turbo was probably needed. Does anyone know a mod friendly dealer in Florida?
