It could be a EP issue since the EP sensor controls the EGR, but depending on calibration you have, that may not meen anything.
It's the charm of DTC's. They don't specify a part that's bad, rather an issue that's occuring. As much as Jr. at Autozone who's trying to sell parts tries to convince you it is.

I agree , the systems are much more complex than just one part. And the OBD II code is setup to be universal for all vehicles so it would be difficult for their to be a code for every part on every vehicle. Also there is no way for the pcm to monitor every part of the system. It can only tell if the end result from that particular system is not as it should be. Therefore it will alert you that there is something malfuctioning in that system, usually very vaguely.

Yup. I see this code a lot on my '97 Jag XJ6. It occurs when the 02 sensor senses emissions very slightly out of spec. Usually happens when the weather is mild and damp. It only takes a millisecond of out of spec conditions to set it off in this car. I would not get overly excited about it.
Of course I could be extremely out to lunch

The CEL came on when the truck started one very cold morning (about -16C) and I was in a place where I couldn't plug in the truck. Drove the truck about 500km now and the light still hasn't gone away, will it disappear? If I erase the code to clear my CEL, will this make it so that a Ford tech won't see it in the history when he goes to troubleshoot it? (I don't want to delete it, just make the annoying CEL go away)
I may be wrong, but I believe that unless whatever is causing that code is a continuing problem, after a certain number of key cycles, the light will go away without erasing the code....
