Park to Drive and Park to Reverse Hesitation
Hey guys... Long time member but dont really post often.
Was hoping to get your guys expert opinion on something.
I just finished a 700 mile tow with a 5000# trailer. That kind of towing is extremely rare, 95% of my driving is unloaded highway miles. Truck ran great and strong the whole time of the recent tow. Now that I have unhooked and running again with no load on it the truck Hesitates to shift from Park to Drive and park to Reverse. It shifts fine when cold (early in the AM), but once warm it has the 3-4 second delay. I checked the fluid level and everything is good.
Also, the problem only occurs immediatley after starting. Once the truck has been running and moving it will shift into park and back into any gear without issue. It only gives me the delay after a complete startup.
I have done some extensive searching on this site and net and seem to come to the conclusion of a possible LPC solenoid part# 4C3Z-7G383-AA getting clogged. Also, I found the possibility of a worst case scenario of the reverse planetary pinion shaft being defective and contacting the internals.
I was planning on doing a typical trans fluid/filter change anyways. Should I go ahead and do that? Or should I suck it up and take it to a dealer to do a trans flush and swap out of the LPC. Or am I looking in the wrong direction?
I am pretty handy with repairs, so I assume I could attempt a Solenoid change myself. But I dont have any experience in doing anything with transmissions except fluid/filter changes.
Thanks,
Ryan
