Did you check the boots yet?? When mine split to the point I finally recognized the problem, I heard the boost blowing out of the boot. BTW, I was still making 20psi of boost according to my gauge, even at that point.

Didn't have the chance to....had to deal with stupid Privates until 1830 this evening. I'll check em tomorrow morning.

I know that there are really good aftermarket boots for the Cummins but haven't checked for the PSD yet....are there good boots for it out there?

Checked the boots out this morning....they're intact, oily but no holes or tears.

So on the advice of my trusted, independant mech, I had him "fix" my catalytic converter.

All I can say is HOLY CRAP!!!! Turbo response is instantaneous; there is absolutely no more lag whatsoever. I've put a tank of fuel through it and, so far, my mileage is sitting at 14.9MPG.

There are a couple more things I want to do. It's my understanding that you lose 1MPG for every 400lbs you're carrying; I have a hauler bed that weighs in at 1400lbs and the Ranch Hand bumper weighs around 400-500lbs. I'd like to go back to the regular dually bed and front bumper...that should shave off at least 1000lbs I would think.

I might just yet take out the last line of my sig!

Strokin,

How many miles on the truck now? I have been wondering about this too. On my 95 jeep the converter went out from being clogged and it made a world of difference.

I can hear my turbo on my 04 all the time. From the time I bought it (05) until now. I think that is normal.

Hmmm... On my '06 at 40k Ford replaced my motor with a remanned and I have consistently got 2mpg LESS than the original motor. I thought it was the remanned motor or a new flash that made the motor not as efficient.

I have a bit over 107,000 miles now. By the way, no black smoke whatsoever, when I hit the go pedal.

Hank, that could very well be the case. I hear that the new flashes reduced MPGs.
