Exclamation Please Help!!! Abs light and No Speedo

I have been struggling with my 2004 f-250 for about 5 months now. My Abs light is on and no speedo. The gauges will work occasionally. When the Abs and speedo does not work its like the truck does not run correctly. Its like the truck has lack of power, and its like the truck does not shift properly. I have replaced the rear Abs speed sensor on the rear chunk. Please help? Any way to test front senosors with voltmeter. PLEASE HELP?

Mine is doing this exact same thing. Iv taken it to the one dealer twice and another once. They both say nothing wrong it runs great, and when I tell them the problem it does they both want to just start systematically replacing things that might be related to the fuel system and abs system til it wont do it anymore. This could run me 10 grand!! No thanks!!

So I thought it was a chaffing issue[FICM], and started wiggling wire harnesses trying to find a chaf and removing ground bolts and making fresh connections.

So far the last time it did it was in the cold morning, and I touched the fuse block under the dash because nothing was working[like no gauges windshield wipers or stereo ect], then everything worked again. Since then, it hasnt done that lack of power with no speedo bullsh!t. So it must be some sort of loose conection in the fuse box area. At least on my truck, I hope.

Maybe thats your problem too, try checking all the connections.

I recommend to do all you can to find the problem, fix it yourself and avoid the dealers. All they want to do is throw as many parts at it as they can that you dont need, and charge you thousands. Its russian roulett.

If I let the dealers have their way, Id have a brand new broken '04 6.0 already because they would have replaced every part on it.

Your actual ABS module might be toast. The speed comes off the rear sensor. When you pulled the sensor was there a ton of metal on it? When they get allot of metal on them like that powderized stuff it makes it think the rotor in the diff isn't moving.

Pull the sensor and clean it and put your ohm meter on it might read open or closed and then change the state of it by placing a piece of metal infront of the mpu. (Mag Pick-Up). Some of those sensors are open close type. I think that one is. Compare it with the old one.
You might also want to check the wireing harness back there on the diff for the ABS.

I had a similar problem awhile ago after I installed some aftermarket lights. if I remember correctly the speedo and dahs lights would stop working and the abs light would come on.

For me I was able to find out the ABS ground wire was loose. Its the strap located right behind the drivers side headlight next to the battery, its basically screwed to the body. I took mine off cleaned the paint off the body and re-attached... its probably been 30,000 miles since and no more issues.

Hope that helps....

Its your ABS behind the drivers headlight. Mine did the same thing and when we pulled it off it had a crack in it. My truck was wrecked before I bought it. We figured it happened then. It had did it before but only for a little while and then it would work. My bill at Thayer Ford in Bowling Green Ohio ( who is top notch with service and not throwing parts at my truck ) was 800 +/- It works fine now and no other problems. Good Luck

ABS not working wont cut power in half. He said his power was less and shifting poor. If the trans doesnt know how fast its going, it wont shift in the right spot or time. Might be a strategy to save the trans by reducing power, but im not sure. Iv unplugged all my speed sensors and there was no power loss.

I think its a bad ground or loose/corroded plug somewhere. Iv had my ABS light on and the speedo still works and there was no loss of power.
