Possible new 6.0 owner

Hi folks. I am a lifelong gasser, but have never had anything against a diesel. There are some smoking deals out there on leftover 07 Super Dutys. All of the trucks left on the lots in my area are diesels. What is the general consensus?? Is it a crap-shoot quality wise, or should I not worry about that motor? I know they had issues a few years back with them, but I assumed thats been ironed out by now. Any info you could throw my way would be great. Thanks

Re: Possible new 6.0 owner

I'm definately not one of the experts around here but... I would take the '07 even over an '08. I think most all of the engine problems have been worked out and I'm not yet sold on the emissions system on the new trucks. Also, my '06 is completely stock, but if your into engine mods, I think you have many more options with a 6.0 PSD.

Oh, and I've not had any problems with my truck.

Good Luck,

Re: Possible new 6.0 owner

I vote for an 07, less emmissions crap than the 08's and Like you said, they are having great deals on them. I love my 05 it's a daily driver in the Houston Area, lots of stop & go, no major probs yet (one small one). My wife's boss has had his 07 KR LWB 6" lift etc for 6 months now 18K on it No probs with his.

Re: Possible new 6.0 owner

You've got a Ford 5th year motor vs. a FORD 1st year motor..... the choice is simple.

Re: Possible new 6.0 owner

I am on my 2nd 6.0 and the 07 has been the very best I could imagine. I do have 6.4 envy, but like you said, there are good deals out there that make it worth while. 20,000 miles and not broke in yet...

Re: Possible new 6.0 owner

Do it. Ive been waiting for the 08 for about 2 years. After reading alot of info/reviews on the new motor and finally test driving one, I bought an 07. They are really nice but not that much of a difference for the extra $$$. I saved quite a bit over an 08.
Do your homework, I found another forum where ford employees sponsor forum members with XPLAN pin numbers for buying ford vehicles. I ended up buying the truck using this option and automatically was able to purchase the truck at a couple hundred below invoice. In addition XPLAN purchases received a $5500 rebate on the 07!!! I hear they are now offering 0% on top of the rebate. The best buying experience Ive had!

If you want more info, PM me or email me blown_gt@yahoo.com or just search some other forums for the xplan info. Its a great program!

****forgot to add, that I was very hesitant on the 6.0 as well, Ive owned the truck for 3 weeks, almost 2400 miles and am very pleased so far. I beleive the truck is more powerful, better tq, usable power, etc than my chipped/exhausted 7.3. And I LOVED that truck. Only downside of the 6.0 is that the 7.3 was paid for **

Good luck.
