power loss after warranty repairs

I have an 05 F350 with 116,000 km or 73,000 miles. Went in to the Ford dealer 3 weeks ago and diagnosed with leaking head gaskets and bad EGr cooler. Head gaskets replaced along with EGR cooler and oil cooler, all replaced under the powertrain warranty.

The problem I have now is that the truck is lacking power and the fuel economy has dropped by 15%. The truck went back in to Ford today and I was told there are no codes or issues with the truck. The turbo is now only pulling 22 lbs boost(shows 20 on the boost gauge). Prior to the major repairs of a couple of weeks ago, the truck showed 28-30lbs on the boost gauge and was verified by Ford at 27-28 lbs.

So my question is, why the loss in turbo boost and a significant drop in fuel economy after the repairs.

The truck was completely stock prior to adding the bypass kit and was running the original programming from Ford. I am the original owner of the truck.

Any comments would be appreciated

Ask if they loaded new software(flashed) into the PCM.

Mine lost a little power on several of the flashes. This last one made it a real dog. Feels like the same power(TQ) but less giddie up and go(HP). Pulls just as hard(seemingly) but no long has the seat of the pants pull it once had after the the turbos spun up and the PCM got to fueling good. Now it just kinda boggs on up in RPM slowly(slower). Boost is a lot slower to build and the fan comes on a lot more than when it was new.

I wouldnt doubt they are tuning these down to keep warranty costs down. I own a Van that is already detuned to 235 hp & its fine in my book. The horsepower race between the big 3 has cost Ford a pretty penny.

I understand that once you had this good power its hard to go back to something slower. I am with you on that. I notice this on everything i have owned, once i get something faster the last one is a DOG but at the time that DOG was Quick.

I asked the service advisor today if the truck was reprogrammed when it was in for the repairs 2 weeks ago. He said no it wasnt.

The real kicker is not only is it down on power, but I am getting poorer mileage. I have been a Ford guy for a long, long time now and the scary thing is I am now considering buying a GM. This is my second 6 litre and I am a little shy about buying another Ford diesel. I have an old 7.3 in a 97 1 ton and with over 250,000 trouble free km's on it now, I wonder where Ford went wrong.

If only the manufacturers would build a 275-300 hp diesel that would be reliable and would achieve 20 mpg. The vast majority of diesel pick up owners do not need 350-400 hp.

goo...when told no issue's I assume that mean's tech. tested turbo & it was ok or maybe not??? Yeah, great to get repair's done under warr., but I also wouldn't be happy with less power/mpg. Also reflashing would be listed on r/o so dealer/tech. can get paid.

PK..you probably know, but E series 6L never had same h.p/tq as F series 6L. Althou some f series 6L's have lost hp/tq (detuned so to speak) from reflashing.
