Re: Quite then loud.....

Just to bring everyone up to date.... Brought the truck in on monday and the dealer reflashed the ECM to the most recent one. I was told they had stopped reflashing because of a glich in the program, but Ford has now fixed the glich and resumed reflashing...

The EGR cycling has stopped so the engine doesen't go thru this quite and loud syndrom anymore. Also with this reflash the transmission was updated to the most recent flash.

End result, More power, the truck feels more responsive, less turbo lag, it seems to spool up much quicker. The transmission shifts better and more positive, Firmer shifts. I really like my truck now!

I thought the latest flash had problems with tow/haul mode...or it changed it somehow.

ON the '04's wiht the bad EB sensor that;s what it would sound like. Sometimes at idle, it would get quieter than a gasser, as in you could not hear the motor. It would last a few seconds then back to normal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just for a day, mine would go silent - I mean I couldn't hear the engine at all @ idle. No power off the line, then suddenly normal accelleration. Did it maybe 5 times; never returned.

If the truck was never flashed before, then yes, the latest flash changes the T/H function. If it's been flashed before, it's no different.
