I am looking at purchasing a 2004 F250 2wd with the 6.0 diesel. What kind of realistic fuel mileage should I expect to get in the truck not having any upgrades?
Thanks
My best highway is 17 and that is an 04 crew cab FX4 4X4. But I do a lot of in town driving which brings it down to an average of 14-15 mpg. I also have a heavy foot.

My 2005 F-250 2wd gets the exact same. I also have a heavy foot. Installing the cat back exhaust did not change the mileage.

13 mpg here but I have lift, large tires, intake, exhaust, and programmer set on extreme with a heavy foot. You could do alot better with a stock truck and less aggressive driving style.

The 2004 that I traded in got 15.5 for a lifetime average over 74K miles. That was a mix of highway, town, and towing mileage over two years. Towing was mostly on the weekends @ about 8500 lbs.

my bone stock 06 crew cab gets 18 on the highway in the summer driving 60-70mph. It gets way worse in the winter though (i'm in Canada eh), about 14-15 mpg

My 07's lifetime avg is now 15.5 w/ 38K on the clock. Since hitting 36K miles it's now easy to produce 18mpg, mixed driving. I guess my 6.0 is finally broken in.
On '04 F350 below in sig I've gotten 17.5 lifetime. That's around 15 bouncin around in town, 18-19 on the highway, and 20+ if I really try and baby it.
Last tank was 20.75 MPG, gotten over about a dozen 50 mile round trips to work. I was very proud.
