Reflash Question

Say you take your truck in for an oil change, do they always check to see that you have the latest flash? If so, do they ask you before they do it, or just do it?

Re: Reflash Question

The dealership that I use doesn't seem to check if you are just going in for service. At least they haven't on mine.

Re: Reflash Question

On my truck, there was a sticker placed underneath the hood up by where it latches to the grill. This sticker has the latest flashes the pcm had and some other info on things changed.

Apparently, there is some confusion at the dealership level on this.... Grampy says they aren't supposed to reflash without a "concern". However others believe they are supposed to update your PCM anytime they have access to your truck......

You said you don't want them flashing you...... If you really want to be sure you don't end up getting flashed, do the oil change yourself. There has never been an easier vehicle to do an oil change on..... It could almost be done in your best church duds...........

Re: Reflash Question

I received another letter to remind me that I have not done the 06E17-Control Module Recalibration. My 2003 6.0 runs like a bat out of hell and I want it to stay that way. I will keep it until the 5year/100,000 mile PSD warranty runs out in Aug 2008.

Re: Reflash Question

Mine runs great too. Thats why I am worried they may try to update it...and then it might not run as well.

Re: Reflash Question

Yep, still have PI.... Though I couldn't care less about it.... What I do care about, is the aggressive tow/haul that was also lost with the later reflashes... And the power and mileage that the original programming has......

Re: Reflash Question

I know what your saying.......but since the last flash I have had the best mileage since the original programming and it seems to be running better than ever....cept when I drove it off the lot.

Re: Reflash Question

The dealer replaced my EGR cooler yesterday and when I got it back today I am positive they flashed it. It feels way down on power and sounds completely different than it did before I took it in.
I was happy with the performance before, I wish they would have left it alone.
