Replace The HPOP? - Diesel Forum

Hello all I am having to replace the EGR and Oil Coolers on my truck. I have 240k miles on it. Since I am already going to be there should I replace the HPOP as well??? How long do they usually last? I have no symptoms that would lead me to think that it is bad. Just dont want to have to tear everything down again if it did go bad. Thanks for everyones help.

I would save my money and not change pump...if you have a model year with the stc fitting, I would pull the cover and inspect to make sure it has the updated stc fitting installed.

I have a late 04 so I think that I am good on the fitting

I replaced the EGR cooler on my 2005 model, was down in there anyways and figured on upgrading the HPOP fitting and the two oil lines to the turbo. Since you will have the turbo out anyways, might as well clean out any soot or residue inside.

Sure you didn't accidentally put a 2 instead of a 1? 240K on a 6.0? According to a lot of people on here they aren't supposed to last that long.
This is sarcasm directed at those that think the 6.0 is just a boat anchor.

If I had the money while I was in there, I'd definantly put in a new upgraded HPOP.

To be honest is has been a good truck. This will be the 2nd egr and 2nd oil cooler and about 6 injectors. The last 3 were my fault for driving the truck with low fuel pressure. I am not the best on doing the regular service. The only one thing that I stay on top of is the oil changes. I change it every 3500 miles.
