Replaced EGR, now it wont start.

I just got my 05' 6.0 back form the shop Friday at lunch after having the egr valve and egr cooler replaced. They had a problem getting it started, and claimed that it was from the batts. being low, as I took off from the shop, it was not at 100% power, but after 5 min. of driving it was running at 100%- i'm guessing that this is due to not having enough voltage to the FICM. Well, the truck ran good all day Fri. Brought it home, went to start it yesterday (sat.) and it will not start, pulled and tested the batts, replaced one (they're only 8 months old) and it still wont start. It turns over strong, fires and the whole truck shutters, then dies, but wont run. Black smoke does come out of the tail pipe when tring to start so I'm guessing that it's getting plenty of fuel. Checked all of the wire connections that I could see/find and every thing is connected. Any ideas???

Thank you,

Richard

Is it possible that the shop may have not connected some wires back under the valave covers and they came loose?? Just hunting for ideas why this thing wont run.

You are supposed to change the batteries in pairs. Take and get them both checked.

I did take them both and got'em tested as mentioned in my post. One batt. was dragging down to 9 under a load (what ever that means), so we replaced that one, the other was 100%. Both batts were 8 months old.
Thanks.

Need to have it scanned. You may have killed the FICM with the low battery voltage. They are sensitive to low voltage. If you have the code "FIcM perfromance" with several "bad" injectors, you may need a new FICM.
