I filled up recently and hand calculated 24.5 mpg. I thought maybe I'd made a mistake and missed a reset on on the trip meter, but the next tank hand calculated out to 24.3 mpg. I have done nothing to warrant this, save for a rotation/balance of tires. Prior to this I was consistently getting 15-18mpg depending on driving situation. I use the same filling station, and will say that there was a touch more highway driving, but it is pretty strange to see this. Any explanations?

I don't know what's going on, but I have to think something is wrong somewhere. A 4wd CC usually tops out at 20 / 21, flat road & a tailwind. Dave Whitmer has a 2wd that he's modified pretty heavily for aerodynamics, and he's topping out about 25.
Maybe some kid is adding 3 gallons when you're not looking?

Maybe someone slipped a Cummins under your hood, when you weren't around?
Man, if I got that kind of mileage, I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Could also be a change from winter fuel to summer fuel???? Maybe your station is getting their diesel from another supplier???

Bike..I betcha..pump shut off when 1st load of foam hit..then you figured mpg. If so....
Fill up till you see solid fuel in neck. Might take 10min. to accomplish that. Next fill up do same thing. Now..figure mpg. Still getting 24.3mpg..its a miracle.
btw..on second thought..is this a trick post..how fast were you going etc.?
It's gotta be the foam thing . It can take 4-6 gals more after the foam hits the nozzel. Or differnt size tires since this happen .
